The 15th meeting of the Working Group on Trade of the UN Special Program for the Economies of Central Asia (SPECA) has been conducted under the leadership of the Republic of Tajikistan

On November 16, 2020, the 15th meeting of the Working Group on Trade of the UN Special Program for the Economies of Central Asia (SPECA) was held via video conference under the leadership of the Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade Mr. Abdurahmonzoda Abdurahmon Safarali.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the SPECA member countries, and the experts from a number of international and regional organizations.
Abdurahmonzoda A. S. provided information on the achievements of the Republic of Tajikistan in international trade based on the instructions of the Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, H. E. Emomali Rahmon and taken measures by the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan in order to repel negative effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, country's participation in the World Trade Organization (WTO), facilitation of trade procedures, export development, acceleration of the process of diversification of export-oriented products, and noted that not all of the existing opportunities are being used between SPECA member countries.
It should be noted that over the past years, the Republic of Tajikistan headed the SPECA Working Group on Trade and during the meeting issues of the SPECA Regional Strategy on trade facilitation and related roadmap, collaboration among SPECA countries in facing the COVID-19 crisis, further development and implementation of the Principles for Sustainable Trade in the subregion and studies and recommendations on non-tariff barriers to trade in the age of pandemic were discussed.
During the meeting, the sides also reviewed and discussed issues related to the facilitation of cross-border and paperless trade for restoration of the economy and attraction of foreign investment.
