Meeting of the Minister of Economic Development and Trade Zavkizoda Zavqi Amin with the Director General of the World Trade Organization Ngozi Okonjo Iweala

At the meeting of Zavkizoda Z. A. сongratulating Ms. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala on her appointment as the Director General of the WTO, she noted that the Republic of Tajikistan during its membership in the WTO, according to the instructions of the Founder of Peace and National Unity - the Leader of the Nation, President Emomali Rahmon has achieved a number of significant achievements in the areas of development of foreign trade, strengthening the country's export potential, facilitation of trade procedures and in general, sustainable economic development. In particular, after joining the WTO, the number of trading partners increased from 90 to more than 110 countries, the volume of exports doubled, and the list of exported goods increased by 1.8 times. The Trade Portal of Tajikistan was also launched and a number of important trade reforms were implemented.
At the same time, in connection with the high-level meetings of the First Trade Policy Review of the Republic of Tajikistan within the framework of the WTO scheduled for December 6-8 this year useful proposals were made.
The WTO Director General highly appreciated the achievements of the Republic of Tajikistan in the field of trade in particular, the simplification of trade procedures and activities within the framework of this international organization and congratulated the Tajik side on these achievements.
Zavkizoda Z. A. invited Director General Tajikistan to take part in a high-level event on the interim results of the International Decade for Action "Water for Sustainable Development 2018-2028", which will be held in the summer of 2022 in Dushanbe.
